According to the thesaurus, Alien has a similar definition as foreign,strange,unfamiliar and exotic. So Jim Henson might've purposely made these aliens for to conquer unfamiliar territory to learn new things.

So if you think this is scary for children, you are alien to what happens outside, which is more scarier than you think.. Mostly people themselves are scary if you don't know anything.
