  • Where are Stephen and David? Didn't Stephen have an introductory speech before Gilmer's first line?

  • Depends on which production you're doing. This production was the 1977 version. There is also a revival production that came out close to 2000.

  • I was in Godspell recently...I wish we had done Tower of Babble!

  • Some productions unfortunately don't have strong enough singers to cover 'Tower Of Babble'. That's usually a director's choice. I've also seen productions that included 'City of God' which is from the 2000 revival version of the musical. Godspell is always a good show to be a part of expecially when each production is unique. When it works, it works. Keep up the good work.

  • really? i didnt even know there was a song called city of god i thought it was beautiful city! idkkkk! ill look into that! im doing this show now, im judas :-)

  • Thanks for clearing up the confusion. The song is 'Beautiful City'. :-) I hope you experience the joy that comes from being part of a cast that truly enjoys what they're doing like I was. Of course I've heard of other casts that weren't too successfull in that area. You'll know pretty soon when you're in such a cast. Good luck with the show.

  • We're doing this for a music at our school

  • Awesome!

  • Ewwww their Nietzche does it down the octave

  • @JGCooney As a matter of fact we did have the Jesus line (the one that opens the show, right? speaking as God?) but I don't think we considered it part of the song. You can actually hear it in the "trailer" Hallwaypro made for this production

  • This seems kind of slow compared to the pace my theatre group is doing it at, but I still like it. The argument is clear and wonderful :) You have some talented singers.

  • my school is doing this for our school musical and ours has this song, from what it sounds like we are doing the rivival one. its a good musical. i am in the chorus and i am so excited about performing it.

  • I'm Gibbon :)

  • The 1977 libretto has Stephen-Jesus having a line before Gilmer McCormick.
