  • Sarah - so touching, aware, honest, sad and real. Just because you're conscious of your process doesn't make your moments any less real. And if you were raised by my parents you'd be Black and that's a whole other kettle of fish.

  • @phillamarr2000 If I weren't in Little Rock, I'd totally be fantasizing about being Black.

  • "Life is basically behavioral therapy." Now that needs to be on a fridge magnet, and bumper stickers, and friggin billboards.

  • I don't have that innate bond with my dad, either. Our relationship is hard work & sometimes I have a hard time finding the energy to work so hard at something that comes so naturally to others. But I keep plugging away...

  • Thank you. This video was so personal and touching. I have the same issues with my father. Thank you for letting me know I'm not alone.

  • Wow - thank you for sharing such a personal story! I related soooo much to the things you say. I am ordering your book from Amazon and hope you get the next one sold!!!

  • I totally understand what you mean about not even thinking about your father for weeks at a time. I think part of my problem is I have a very close relationship with my mother, which makes it somewhat less important to have one with my father. Last week I set a reminder to call him once a week to try to change that. Of course, I tried to call him multiple times today and he didn't answer. :(

  • Sarah, I feel the same way sometimes about my father and our relationship. You're really brave to be so forthcoming, honest and vulnerable.

  • Aww Sarah.. I just wanna give you a big hug. That was really sweet of you to show a really personal side of you, and to encourage men to set the tone early in their kid's lives. Although you may not have had a relationship with your father, you have the joy of seeing it through your daughter, and like you said.. That is a beautiful thing!

  • Just want to give you a hug, Sarah. So enjoyed what you said and agree, as another who didn't have that early bond and then tried to get it later. My dad died 2 months ago and I'm so glad I tried. Keep trying.
