There's an earlier recorded version of this by John Stewart on his live "The Phoenix Concerts" which came out sometime in the mid-70s. The only differences are that the 1/16th note rhythm on this song is missing and the song begins, "Mississippi boy" rather than "California boy." Somewhere I read that Stewart originally wrote it for Elvis Presley, but Presley never recorded it.

This is a great song that is definately a hidden GEM! Thanks for the upload!
Spent many years as a disc jockey in British Columbia. In my humble opinion, this was one of the finest albums I have ever had the pleasure to get to hear. John was an amzaing writer, singer and performer, would love to hear the album version of Lost Her in the Sun again. Rest well my friend, you earned it!

I'm glad everyone is enjoying Stewart music. Everyone needs a copy of "Bombs Away Dream Babies!" The whole album is killer!

You are right. I have the version you are talking about. The part about Elvis, I have never heard that.
