After getting the Empire Builder, I went east to Portage and hung around the depot. Nothing much was going on until I heard a couple of EMD 645s throttling up from behind the rows of cars parked in the yard. As they rolled out from behind the cars, I saw that one of the units was Milwaukee Road Bandit GP38-2 Soo Line 4512. The other was SOO 4428, also a GP38-2 (without dynamic brakes).

They knocked cars around in the yard for awhile, then went to switch out a conveniently-located customer.

  • nice ex MILW unit, I didn't know any existed still sporting the original paint

  • There are about 6 GP40s, and about 10-15 MP15ACs still in MILW orange and black, too (including one on WSOR).

  • is this an older cammera model?

  • A bit, but not that old. I got it in 2002.

  • Wow, an old Bandit ex milw #363.

I have a model of an old bandit patched for Soo #4515 which used to be #365 w/o Dynamic Brake.

  • 4512 has a small fuel tank..looks like from a SW.

  • Wish I could have saw the bandit! Nice catch!
