In those days, Abramson, like New Orleans East, was mostly white, so it's not surprising. And Rummel was about 95 percent white until the school began struggling in football in the early 1990s, and then coach Jay Roth brought in more blacks to play football.

Mel read one of the questions wrong. Tip O'Neill was the House Majority Leader and John Rhodes the Minority Leader. He got those transposed, since the Democrats controlled the House in 1975.
I remember VQB ending after the 1991-92 school year. During the latter years, I recall Ben Franklin and Jesuit dominating, although Brother Martin won in 1989-90, my eighth grade year at the school.

Actually I'm guessing open reel 1/2" videotape since it is in black and white. It is unlikely that it was actually originally broadcast in black and white in the mid 1970's -- just recorded and preserved in BW.
Speaking of black and white -- oddly for a New Orleans area production, there is not one African-American. If this show were done today, that would be extremely unlikely.

From the tracking at the top I'm guessing you had this on VHS or Beta? I played at Bonnabel from '79 to '81, and in the mid-to-late'90s there was a commercial for VQB on WYES featuring our team. I'd give body parts for a copy of that commercial.

Wow! I wonder if Abe Students could answer these questions today! I knew these people. I had a crush on Mary Barrow, though she never knew it. Very tall girl and looked better than she does here.
Very good! Answers to a few questions:
1.This was on 1/2" videotape.
2.I'm the guy on the left on the Abe team.
3. All of us had crushes on Mary Barrow... We haven't been able to track her down recently.
