What is the difference between a sequence and a series, the formula for finding the sum of the first "n" terms of a series, and relating the two formulae used in this unit.

  • i was wondering why u have to subtract by 1 when you punch in the value of N in the formula?

  • @TheTheprince5 - the (n-1) part refers to the number of times you are adding the common difference (d).

We don't need to add "d" on the first term, we add it once to get the 2nd term, add it twice to get the 3rd term, etc... add it (n-1) times to get the "nth" term...
