2nd season of using smart pots in my tomato garden and they are holding up really well. A timed dripper feeds them water and they get fertilizer 3 times a year. Brandywine Black, Striped German, Sweet Cherry Million, Sun Gold, Carbon, Mortgage Lifter, Black Prince and Black Krim round out the selections. We had a really wet spring that ruined a bunch of plants in our area that were planted in the ground. All hail the Smart Pot!

  • Is it determinit

  • What size(s) of Smart Pots are you using? I am the former peppersnsmartpots from the comment above and I have a 65gal for a Brandywine. I think yours seem to be about that size. My peppers are going in 10gal Smart Pots, and I have potatoes in a 45gal, and may put more potatoes in the 25gal from last year.

Again the potatoes worked well for me in a Smart Pot, you should give 'em a try.

And thanks again, your '09 garden video is the main reason I'm into Smart Pots.

  • I've watched your 2 vids & now I wanna use these smart pots too. This will be 1st yr in growing all heirlooms, but i was wondering what kinda soil mix do u use? Buying bagged soil can get pretty expensive & how do you recycle the soil? Do you regrow in same soil? I know that can lead to disease problems & mineral/fertlizer deficiencies if you keep growing same type veggie in same soil instead of crop rotation, especially if you get a blight like what happened probably to you brandywine!

  • Try adding bountea and you will get bigger result.

  • Thanks for the props and never done organic. Teach me Yoda.

  • Jurassic sized plants and production to boot, quite an amazing accomplishment! I have tasted one of these tomatoes this year, and it was like eating a tomato flavored cloud from heaven.... Perfect in every way. You my friend need to be a farmer.
