  • First of all, I am a Fire Chief and support the paramedics 100%.Fire fighters, Paramedics and Police work very closely together for the good of the patient. Don't compare us we may have different jobs but the goal is the same. Forget the pagerr pay that is for part timers and they get full pay whan a call comes in.

  • and if they are not able to support themselves as medics they will leave the profession and a fact of life - PEOPLE WILL DIE. Who will get the blame? The paramedics. People will say "thank you so much" when you treat and transport them. Those same people will turn around and make it clear you're just being greedy and you can be replaced. People had better wake up. It may be you that needs a paramedic one day...hope there's one available.

  • If paramedics deserve $2/hr, Gordy deserves a penny a day since he does nothing but build roads and tax ppl.

  • the RCMP dont currently have a mandate for a university or college degree

  • there is a fitness test for paramedics

  • you are an idiot!

  • I am a paramedic and a dispatcher and I honestly care about people. It truly saddens me when when people wait terrified, alone, in pain, dying.. It affects me deeply when my 911 caller dies on the phone, my voice the last they hear... It makes me sick when I have to decided who, out of the 10-20 calls holding, gets my ONE ambulance. Today I learned something else that deeply saddens me, the heartless attitude I read in your comments.

  • continued from previous...

Correct me if I misunderstood you but it seems you are saying the public doesn't deserve better service than this? That perhaps we should wait till we can prove people are dying as a result of the critical shortage? That we are wrong and greedy for warning the public? God forbid you or one of your loved ones suffers unnecessarily, then come back and tell me how you feel about our shortage.

  • continued from previous... Please keep in mind, there are many medical conditions that you may survive despite the 'wait' but you may be left with lifelong deficits and a severly reduced quality and length of life (i.e cva's) Crimethinkful you are either very misinformed or completely lacking in empathy if you feel this is acceptable service for our citizens. Would you feel the same if this was a family member or friend of yours waiting in pain and fear?

  • continued from previous,

In the meantime, 30 minute runs for a patient having a heart attack is unacceptable (time is myocardium, read up on that!), grandma lying on the ground with a broken hip for 3 hrs is appalling, the patient rolling around on the ground with extreme abdo pain for hours is cruel...These examples and more don't happen once in a while - they happen every day. In fact, my own mother waited in excruciating pain for almost 2 hrs before a bystander drove her to the hospital.
