Making a rope lure to catch longnose gar. Interesting enough you do not need a hook to catch one of these fish and here is how!

  • can some one help me, at 3:56 what is he talking about and if it is not a swivel can i use a swivel instead of whatever he is talking about.

  • @kevbot31 in the Video I was using nylon braided wire and so you would need to use a cinch. If you were to use regular fishing line, Mono, Braid, or flouro you could use a swivel.

    There are many variations of rope lures. You can make them as simple or complex as you would like.

  • What Did you use for the flash part of it????

  • How do you safely release the fish? Dafley for you and the fish

  • I carry a sharp knife and two pairs of pliers. I keep my hands away from the teeth! it takes a while to untangle these guys but they are hardy fish. If it is bad enough I just cut and untangle cut some more and put on a new lure.

  • I am going to work with making Muskie lures with rope, i think this is a good idea and you can make a variaty of lure types,, I will let you know if I can get muskie on this same presitation,, thanks for the tip

    have you used these lures with a large single hook,threaded through the body instead of a treble ???

    Would they also cast on a fly rod ??? I`m thinking of pike (muskie) over here in england.
