  • mac os 9 didn't really die until the intels came out (or upgrading to leopard on a powerpc). there was a feature on the powerpcs with 10.0 .4 that allowed you to run os 9 apps.

  • Apple still had a few million dollars the last I remembered in the mid '90s... but COULD have gone out. I don't really think Mac OS 9 was the reason they almost did though... Who knows it might be. But my first school still uses Mac OS 9 and their OS X machines didn't work nearly as well (G3 + OS X = not always good). But at least you notice how good Mac OS X is.

  • I'm a classic Mac hater, yes. It was an awful architecture and and awful OS. It was the primary reason Apple was on the verge of going bankrupt in the mid 90s.

    OS X, on the other hand, is a spectacular OS.
