I did the same thing to an K6 that I bought at the Sally Ann for $24. The machine was weighted with Win 2000, and its Fujitsu 8G drive was stuffed. Pure molasses. Of course I scrubbed, installed DSL (version 3.3, which I prefer over later versions), stuck a few programs on it (including Dosbox and Dosemu, and 700M of DOS programs), Abiword, Dia, and hundreds of games. Now it can do anything...except play video. Xine won't work. My understanding is the K6 is too slow for video.
