I know an adult who seems to have all these issues. He's been diagnosed w/Asperger's but this seems to make much more sense. Thank you. Too bad he's too avoidant and defiant to seek counseling for himself. Even when doing something is solely in his own best interest (depositing checks, for example), he just can't manage it and when others try to do for him, he freaks out and refuses. He's up all night online, sleeps all day, ignores the world. 85% dysfunctional.

I know an adult with this disorder. It is awful. My heart goes out to you.

@bluemillicent Thank you, that makes sense.

Ive been diagnosed with bipolar2adhd and taken all kinds of drugs, with bad results. I don't agree that many drugs actually work, and dont accept the diagnosis. Everything is circumstantial, I just feel like life is boring and painful without lots of money and good drugs. But even the good ones don't provide motivation to succeed despite the warmth of tension relief and other qualities. Ive just become so damned asocial and sad it sucks. sry if complaining bothers, i hardly care for responses

Very well presented.
Explained well even though I had to watch it 3 times.
Thanks from a 57 yr old left handed Dyslexic Dyspraxic Aspergian, with A.D.D.
Do PDA doctors have solutions? I feel tricked because I understand this pda like my own thoughts, which were abused by a fucked up system. I don't know if im right, lazy, or too scared to go outside, almost always. I'm almost 25 and have no patience. Recently f'd up my comp from viruses related to gory dead things and such. Just want peace but my brains on fire. So many liars and undiagnosed fakers in this world, mb im delusional though, condensed hatred and misery in a cycle of release.

@fetalbetal No, I don't think doctors have 'solutions' for PDA or for most areas of mental/emotional health.
What good care can provide is a way to help manage a condition. I do not believe that medication is an absolute answer, but can be helpful for some. Finally I am certain that there are many people undiagnosed or given ill fitting labels. These individuals can be the victims of inappropriate 'support' or receive no help at all. Sadly, no support can be better the wrong help.

Thanks i was diagnosed with PDA about 10 years ago when i was 17, but still from time to time i like to see if there are any coping mechanisms that people have thought of (do any of your videos have any of these), because it can be quite the nuisance when your stuck avoiding things like;
Getting off the bus at the right stop
Watching TV programs people have told me about
Bringing the lawn mower in after mowing the lawn
Knowing what time it is.

Thank you for taking the trouble to post your comment. I have to stress that I am not a professional, just a parent trying to make a difference. My direct experience is with my son and most of the strategies I am familiar with are those used by parents teachers etc to help the child.
PDA doesn't end with adolescence or adulthood. As my son matures I hope to be able to identify strategies that can be adapted as self help tools for the adult
videos 6,7 and 8 may be of some help
