02 December, 2011 - JERUSALEM -- Iran is ramping up its rhetoric against the United States and Israel after the International Atomic Energy Agency released its report on the Islamic Republic's nuclear program.

But Iran sees the report as an excuse for an attack.

Iran blasted talk of new sanctions against the Islamic Republic. Leaders claimed those sanctions would only unite Iranians behind the nuclear program.

Nearly 1,000 Iranian students even formed a human chain to symbolically protect the uranium conversion facility in Isfahan.

They vowed a devastating response to any western attack.

This is all part of the vision of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, accordng to retired Israeli Lt. Col. Michael Segall.

"It was the first time he refers in public to the phrase of final confrontation -- final confrontation with the West. Indeed Iran is preparing itself for the final confrontation," he told CBN News.

Segall said the prospect of war actually plays into Ahmadinejad's theology.

The Iranian president believes it's his calling to usher in the return of the Islamic messiah known as the Mahdi through a violent upheaval in the region and world.

Segall added that Iran sees the so-called "Arab Spring" as an Islamic awakening.

"Iran has prepared the ground for years for these events and now they are seeing these events. The Islamic Awakening or the Arab Spring as divine development for change," he explained.

During the last 10 years or so, Iran has seen the downfall of enemies like the Taliban in Afghanistan, Iraq's Saddam Hussein, as well as the rise of friends like Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

"So When Ahmadinejad comes and says, 'We are ready for the final confrontation,' Iran takes all of these payload of events and says, 'This is divine. This is a divine sign that we are on the right way,'" Segall said.

And while most Middle East Muslims are Sunni and Iranians are Shia, the Islamic Republic is trying to build a new Middle East based on common enemy.

"The only common denominator is hate for the West and hate for Israel," Segall explained. "Iran is trying to rebuild and reshape the Middle East."

And that prospect spells a potential perfect storm for the Middle East and those who live there.

  • Iran won't ever begin any war but if a war is imposed on her then she will devastate the enemies with all her power.

"Iran won't ever begin any war"

    What makes you believe that?

  • @0MadeInEngland1 Iran doesn't need a war besides Iranians don't like war and bloodshed unless they are forced to fight. That's why they don't like to begin any war but if the war is imposed on them then they will fight to defend themselves.

Just for the record, I oppose ALL wars the US and it's allies (Yes, Britain is one) fight in middle eastern countries. It causes nothing but trouble for us, financially and economically. War in the middle east gives an excuse for terrorists to claim asylum and enter our nations on the pretence of persecution and hardship.

We know they do it, but human rights obligations allows them in. Fortunately Britain's human rights policy is not as soft since the tories gained power :D

  • @0MadeInEngland1 but you know that war is necessary for the existence of the US and her allies. US can not survive without war. Their all history is a history of war and they are eager for war. They have more than 700 military bases throughout the whole world. While the Iranian nation is not war thirsty and in the history of Iran you can not find any war that is begun by Iran. Every time Iran has had a war it has been started by other nations against Iran.

If anyone makes the first move.. it will be Israel. Israel have been warned by the USA not to pre-emptify, I agree with this decision and so does the British government, hence sanctions were put in place since diplomatic relations have broken down, it didn't exactly help when the Iranian islamists ransacked the British embassy and insulted our Queen and flag. If Israel attack then as far as I'm concerned they're on their own, the stance is that the USA thinks the same.

  • hahahaha this video is pure propoganda, twisting the ideas of a nation that has not attacked anyone. They have done nothing to us or israel You cant attack a country on what you think they might do.

  • @monjiaitaly What part of what he said was ignorant or wrong ?

  • listen to this israeli fool, fear thats all it is, fear and ignorance

  • Watching this from Somwhere out of Jerusalem, makes this whole video seem like a well written script.

  • the Islamic Messiah is actually Jesus. the news caster is building ignorance. The Mehdi is the man believed by muslims to fallow Jesus (the Messiah).

  • war with iran means we're all gonna die.

  • jews lie

  • @0MadeInEngland1 and Israel can not attack Iran successfully by her own. If they would attack it will be always with the green light of the US because obviously if they fail in their attack then the US has to intervene and defend them.

  • @0MadeInEngland1 storming the embassy was not correct I accept it but if you see the website of the British embassy in Iran you will give right to the Iranian people to become so angry. The British don't follow the rules of diplomacy and interfere in the internal affairs of Iran. An embassy is not meant to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries but the British have proven not to follow the rules of diplomacy. They always try to manipulate in Iran.
