Commercial of the 1988 Nissan Maxima.

I love this Maxima but I love "Bluebird-Maxima" better.

  • Ass kicking car there...

  • This generation of Maxima was awesome and probably Nissan's best iteration of the design (the new one looks great and might be good, but the other three were BLAH).

My parents never bought one but nearly did several times, so I remember the test drives very well. The SE kicked ass.

"Built for the human race" has to be one of the dumbest slogans ever.

  • @CrashBandikoot7 Well, anyways, Maximas have pretty good acceleration for a stock 6cyl. At least, they can keep up with traffic. lol

  • @boofdfast I was replying to you, and just explained to you that there is a Maxima that looks exactly like the one in the video, but had a special rare engine(VE30DE) with almost every possible Nissan technology available, released only in the 92-94 SE models with the 5spd and that one does 145mph+ .. its just as fast as the new 290hp Maximas on top end, and walks away from my 225hp BMW 330xi at around 130mph.. Just letting you know that theres an old Maxima out there that IS that fast.

  • @CrashBandikoot7 Uh... WHO are you replying to? I know those Max's prolly only top out at 130, if that.

  • @Roushfan5 lol i love the qoute "I don’t care how fast my car goes because I could just sit in it for hours and be happy" thats love right there.. but if you want to see a 3rd gen VE 5spd do 145+..... type in 145+ in maxima here on youtube. the haters dont want to believe it, but its real. the only true rival to this car from those years was the Ford Taurus SHO with the Yamaha engine. Those cars go past 150 no problem, but the VE stays with them the whole way.

  • @CrashBandikoot7 Well I’ve never gone flat out in my Maxima because I don’t want to push it to hard. Not until I have the money to fix something that goes wrong so my performance stats have been collected over the internet and ball park at best. And those stats I posted where the entire 3rd gen model run, not just the VG 89-92.

To be honest I don’t care how fast my car goes because I could just sit in it for hours and be happy, I just love my car. The fact goes fast is a bonus.

  • @Roushfan5 And yes I do love the 3rd gen Maximas, especially the 92-94 SE models. They have an amazing top end, and can pretty much stay with the new Maximas when it comes to high speed action. Really ahead of it's time and looks sick. I dont own it anymore cause I sold it to my friend, but I've been an enthusiast of it for so long that when I see certain things that are off, I just try to throw in a few corrections here and there, thats all. No disrespect.

  • @Roushfan5 No problem, thank you for your apology. Well I mean if we are comparing speeds of 2 engines, might as well call it a race, no? Makes sense to me. Honestly I dont see how it would be possible to make it to 145 in the VG 5spd when I owned the auto version and the thing felt like it was running out of balls at 120mph and couldn't go past 123mph. I have heard people on the forums go 135 about, but not 145. And sorry, but its not 7 seconds either. It was 7.8 seconds to 60mph for the VG.

  • @CrashBandikoot7 I did not word my sentence correctly for that you have my apologizes. What I intended to say was that the extra gear in the manuel means it has a higher top end. We are in a race now? I thought we where merely comparing top speeds. You will never hear me argue that speed wise the VG is a better engine then the VE. All I’m saying is that the VG is a fast engine as well.

But why exactly are we arguing? I imagine you love Maxima’s as much ad I do to know so much about them.
