The Mil Mi-24 (NATO reporting name "Hind") is a large helicopter gunship and low-capacity troop transport produced by Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant and operated from 1972 by the Soviet Air Force, its successors, and over thirty other nations. In October 2007, the Russian Air Force announced it would replace its 250 Mi-24 helicopter gunships with 300 more modern Mi-28s and possibly Ka-50s by 2015.

  • @milkoyan Spare your time dont watch this stupid propaganda of Wings of the Red Star.At first they said is good and for the next 30-45 minutes its a western propaganda how misarble eastern technology is, they twist the facts to let look it like shit.

  • Nice narrator voice I respect when discovery was like this instead just propaganda...THNK U VERY MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO

  • I always liked the look of the Hind-A, with its flight deck nose - but the Hind-D does look seriously bad-ass.

  • @vodkasvictim this thing is so big it just flies around waiting to get shot

  • 1970 Y ))) !!!

  • This gunship is most badass.Still one of my fav,

  • @Aresholewins

Not fast enough? The Hind is one of the fastest combat helicopters ever build -in fact it's high speed is one of it's strengths and it's broken world record for rotary-wing speed twice.

After the appearance of the Hind the US has also been playing with configurations of the Blackhawk into a similar gunship + transport helicopter for special purpose tasks.

The hind is being modernized because there's still a demand for it.

New models have fixed landing gear and shorter stub-wings.

  • @Suyamu not fast enough, also, its engines suffer when it is fully loaded. the fact that USSR chose to develop Mi 28 and KA50 proves my previous point. Now the hind is being modernized mostly due to their limited funding. Dont get me wrong, I love the hind, the meanest looking gunship ever, but I just dont quite agree with the design concept.

  • @Aresholewins

    multinational? :)

And what exactly is wrong with the hind?

It's done it's job very well and proved to be a successful design.

It's still being modernized and exported to this day.

  • @Suyamu you can only focus on sth to get the most out of it or be mediocre and multinational.
