Susan Lucci Loses Emmy

At the 29th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards in 2002, Susan Lucci is backstage having just presented the award for Best Actor. When the winner (Susan Flannery from Bold & Beautiful) is announced, the camera mistakenly goes to Lucci while the All My Children theme plays. She starts to walk onto the stage, but luckily, someone stops her before she gets too far. A HUGE mistake that somebody probably got fired for, but FUNNY!

Apparently Susan Lucci recognized the Susan part of the name, but still has yet to consistently recognize her own surname. Now, if she had only continued to walk onto stage and taken the Emmy from the other woman, screaming, "But it should be me!", then it would have been a briefly, and moderately, amusing moment.

While I am not sure about this clip for that year, I highly doubt that Lucci deserved so many nominations. Also, while Flannery was good that year, Colleen (Barbara) from ATWT really deserved to win. Her character's marriage broke up, she was burned in a fire and also went a little nutty. The actress was great and had so many powerful performances.

I was watching also and remember thinking how I would have felt if I were Susan Lucci. For someone to tell her apparently that it was her, not Flannery and then to cue AMC's music was unacceptable. Talk about incompetence or a really sick joke!
