Can seas provide us energy enough to power the US? More than 70% of the Earth is covered by sea. Yet we just began to tap the ocean as an energy source. Tidal waves might hold the key to our needs. Water is 800 x denser than air, thus containing 8 x more energy than air while in motion. Minesto's small underwater kite promises to give 10,000 x more energy than conventional kinds. To check out a similar technology look at: Makani: A Kite for Harnessing Wind Energy.

Minesto is a spin-off of the Saab Group. Development of the Deep Green technology for a new type of tidal power plant started within the Saab Group in 2003. After four years of technological and commercial evaluation, Minesto was formed in 2007 and is devoted to continuing the journey towards commercialization.
