In this video we start to look at customizing your game beyond what the defaults are in AGS. We're going to see what's involved with customizing the default Dialog system within AGS to implement your own Gabriel Knight-style dialog.

Hi, Densming! I love these tutorials, thanks so much for taking the time to make them. I've learned so much, there's no way I would've learned how to do this by going by just the manual.
I'm using AGS 3.1 and when I tried this part of the tutorial the engine didn't like the font "eFontFont1" in the script you link to in the description of this video. "eFontNormal" is the exact same one, I guess it was renamed.
Just letting you know, it's kinda my fault for being so late to this party! :)

Yes, 3HeadedMonkey, it's possible with scripting... use a separate function. Post in the AGS forums and I can help you more.

Very useful, thorough, and interesting.
I look forward to future videos, as well as learning from the script you were generous enough to provide. Which, if I may add, is well commented.
Thank you as always.
3HeadedMonkey-
Yes. I've seen it done in several AGS games-
Duty and Beyond and AGW are two I know did.
I would think you could just create a character with the background of the room he is in as a view, and show/hide on phone pickup/drop.
You'd have to modify the script though.

Hahaha yeah it was me xD. Thanks, you managed to put CP in one of these :D
(Sorry for asking it a couple times, I remembered that I asked for them in one of your videos, but I couldn't remember in wich one)

wow that's really interesting!
a bit unrelated but is it possible to have a game that uses both the Lucasarts-style and Sierra-style dialogue? By that, I mean normally characters will talk to each other Lucasarts-style with the characters talking, and then like if they're on the phone, the guy on the other side is shown sierra style with the head shown in the upper screen talking?
