  • Right On Pastor ! ..... Yahweh is the original Almighty God and doesnt kick out clones , Man does that , Yahweh kicks nothing but ORIGINALS made in his own image . Pastors are hand picked and chosen by the Almighty and He doesnt pick COPY CATS !

  • "Thinking outloud" "Preaching outloud." There goes they "you're crazy" myth!

  • @NightcastMinistries 20 to 30 hours is correct, but when you have dedicated a lifetime of ministry, subject matter comes more readily - you have it more down pat, of course prayer is a very important. At least this has being my experience.

  • Wow! he is describing how I do it - a minimum of 20 to 30 hours through out the week just for an hour and a half Sunday school lesson for youth, and I love it, by the time Sunday comes around I would generally memorize the whole outline, just from the focused study through out the week. It can get discouraging when not many show up, but i learn to cope with that.

  • This may work for Dr. Piper, but to be honest....this sounds like a death wish if I tried it.

I've never written a sermon, but I would probably be spending about 20-30 hours preparing if I did (less if I'm familiar with the text). Figuring out everything about the passage (exegetical, history, personal commentaries/guidance by God). that's 12-15 hours easily, narrow it down (another 4), then I'd probably imitate what John Piper does when he start typing the sermon (probably another 4-8).

  • Pastor John, Do you every do a run through of your Bible Study message with your wife to get her feedback?

  • "...with my little--mouse..."

  • love it!

  • whats so crazy is that I can totally relate to all Dr. Piper says here. Love you sir and am praying for your time with your family!!!
