Fantine can sing, but the direction is minimal, valjean seemed to me to have the voice of marius at the start but he did strengthen during the confrontation. A lot of people think that valjean is the hardest character to play but it is actually Javert as he needs to be able to easily portray his hate through his voice rather than his action, his voice needs to be in the lower registers to get that authority through. Good job though

Fanitne can hold a tune...kinda...but swooping? it's not american idol...she's a dying woman who is hallucinating...I don't blame the actress...I blame the director for not telling her to act like shes dying, and not sound like a 15 year old girl.

My school did this play awhile back and this scene made me start crying in front of all of my friends. Most amazing musical production ever!

Fantine looks like she wanted to be Eponine but didn't get the part... look, she's still trying to act like Eponine... 1:19 "without him, I feel his arms around me..." LOL.
Didn't look like she died! Looked more like she just decided to take a nap. XD

i think fantine would be better as eponine. she has much more of a voice for eponine, but no voice for fantine.

i'm learning male part for a les mis callback at school. It's difficult but this vid's helped as this guy actually sings it- many others speak the lines which isn't what they're looking for

I don't know what you're talking about? I hate when people come onto this site thinking they can't act like fucking Simon Cowell whatever and pretend they know everything about music, for a school production (NOT fucking Broadway) and as I know loads of muckers and guys in Marion I think it is brilliant! Again, congrats to all involved! If you were invovled and reading this, not all of us agree with ivivie!
