How to stop a collector: Send them a certfied mail return receipt requested (CMRRR) with these words, "Your claim is disputed, validation is requested. Calling anywhere is inconvenient." If they didn't respond or kept calling you, send them another Intent To Sue letter of course CMRRR with settlment offer to pay YOU, $7000. Next, file a suit at small claims court and serve them with summons. You can easily find process servers online for few bucks.

The result, money in your pocket and clean credit. Never pay a collection agency. If you do, your credit score will drop, because they will enter, "COLLECTION PAID."
