Hardcore mode with no upgrades (suit, module, or weapon), no deaths, and no saves. Part 5 out of 11. Total run time (ie. summation of all videos) is 2:39:59. If you have any game-play questions, leave a comment and I'll answer as soon and as best I can.

***NOTE***: Following notes are written based on no checkpoint restarts, as restarting from checkpoints CAN AND WILL change spawn types, points, etc. Information below is based on PERSONAL OBSERVATION, so nothing is guaranteed. Take it with a grain of salt...and pepper.

// Notes:

0:10 - That's what I call a STASIS-MINE! I put 2 extra mines for more damage. Putting the mines too close to where the brute hits the ground sometimes detonates them prematurely.
1:30 - As evident, the door to the next section doesn't open until after their conversation.
2:22 - There's always a leaper and half-dead puker.
3:50 - For this elevator, standing in the middle prevents any tripods from hitting you when they climb into a window, though they can still hit you if you don't take them down. The first tripod always pops in that window, the rest seem random. Once again, you don't need to shoot the yellow part of the arms to damage them.
6:43 - Half-dead slasher is always there
6:52 - Leaper can spawn from either the right or left vent in the room. Baby spawn points seem to be consistent.
7:39 - Stepping out of the room causes the leaper to spawn and head towards you.
7:48 - A slasher also comes out of the floor vents, however which one it comes out of is inconsistent.
8:13 - The stalker spawn points seem to be consistent. There is always 1 stalker and 1 half-dead stalker.
9:10 - There are 5 swarmers that come out, however they spawn 1 after another making Area-of-Effect explosions ineffective to take out quickly, unless you wait for all 5 to spawn. I merely let them grab me to save a bit of ammo.
9:15 - The plug pattern is always consistent (for both rooms), so easy to memorize.
10:22 - The advanced slasher spawns from either the vent in the ceiling or the one in the wall.
11:01 - The two slashers are always there.
11:11 - You don't have to wait for the tubes to open to destroy them. Upon destroying the first, 2 additional slashers spawn.
11:38 - As apparent, door doesn't open until after the AI stops talking.
12:06 - For this room there is: 1 leaper, 1 advanced slasher, and 3 lurkers, however the lurkers only spawn if the slasher and leaper die. The leaper spawns and jumps on the wall where the mine is placed, however WHEN it spawns can vary. The lurkers spawn for me because the stasis-mine I placed killed the slasher.
12:18 - STASIS-MINE BABY!!
13:16 - Same 2 solar arrays are always out of alignment. If you're wondering how I drag the arrays, I switch between dragging my mouse and dragging on my laptop's mousepad. A small benefit of playing on a laptop.
13:41 - Initially, I decided to save my mines, but thanks to poor-ass aiming, I ditched that effort.

  • I know this is a speedrun, but why didn't you try an get the PENG treasure? It would give you lots of credits to buy the stuff you need (or is that a part of your very hardcore mode) lol

    Arranging the puzzle and crawling in the vent (both to and from the treasure) takes too long.

  • Hey that's some glorious speedrun, Rambo is a squirrel's fart compared to you :)

    Btw the un-upgraded detonator can kill the brute with 1 hit. It took just one direct hit at the head, when the mine exploded in the middle it catches both yellow weaknesses within the blast radius. I went like "WTF what happened?" .. then I realized it was a 1-hit-ko. Really happened in my last HC run.

    Yeah I've had that with brutes, but it's very hard to get consistent results. Works one time, fails the next 10.

  • For my hardcore run, I saved on Ch 3 first (since I kept having trouble with the ending tram sequence.) I plan to save at 7 before the elevator. Any recommendations for my final save?

    Unfortunately I can't, since I've never played Hardcore the normal way (ie. using saves). However, I can recommend practicing chapters on another difficulty before attempting it on hardcore, as this is what I did. So what I recommend is practicing the Chapters ahead of where you saved, and maybe you'll find out you don't need to save before the Chapter 7 elevator, but perhaps later on.

  • @GhosthawkMusic Yeah I figured as much. I'm just gonna practice practice practice on Zealot before I start over on Hardcore again. It may be my last trophy, but I've never played a game where the last goal was so close yet so far away.

  • @Bulzeeb15 Was a really bad idea. Your first saye should be somewhere in the chapters 6-8 the second one in chapter 10 or 11 and the third around ch 13 or everywhere before the bossfight.

    Btw the alt fire of the line gun ist 1hit ko against that big thing in the space at the end.

    Also against this monsters on the wall with many tentacles.
