Some people tell you not to sing. and you have to sing even if you get tipped a penny. But honestly you get used to it and normally there are more people working. And you get paid to do it so its a win win for you. :)

I work at cold stone and we don't sing unless the customers absolutely insists and says they'll take the tip back if we don't sing..
