If you got the ipod classic 80 gb,the hardrive will go on it like a yr after you buy it, it happened to me yesterday and i wanted to return it but i was 40 days over the warranty so now i cant return it.

Its weird to think that back in the day, those were 400 dollars. That's why I didn't buy one when they first came out. I bought a mini as my first ipod.
