Messing around with the blofeld and made this minimal-ish track. not meant to be genius or anything. just something for those wanting to hear the blofeld. all sounds are from the blofeld and sequenced live in multi-mode. recorded to ableton and problably had some compression and eq done. can't remember. pretty sure these were all preset drum sounds. maybe some editing. recorded after i had just received the blofeld.
probably the first synth in which i liked the presets. some decent sounds pre-loaded.

  • the quote @ 3:01 is from Gerald Ford's 1974 Presidential address to a joint session of Congress, not Thomas Jefferson.

  • @TheDevilBurning You are correct indeed! My mistake. Still quite true...

  • I like the track. It actually helped me to buy one and found it used at a good price.

I'm still trying to figure out how all this works. So if you're sequencing the blofeld with ableton live, for the audio to work do you have to use the audio out plugged into your audio interface or can you hear the sounds from the blofeld only using the usb cable? I'm still trying to figure out the point of the usb cable, to only send midi signals or audio as well?

  • @ajhalbrook Hi, I did the following:

ableton (computer midi interface) midi out to blofeld midi input to send the notes to play

blofeld audio output to computer audio input, routed to ableton audio input channel. set the audio input to monitor so you can hear it even when not recording (you can also add on ableton effects to the channel too).

no usb used. though i think you can perhaps route the midi over usb. i made this right after i got it so hadn't messed with it much.

  • is there an on-board sequencer on the blofeld??

  • @owlwink no. i have ableton live sequencing it.

  • dude i like it but it's senseless to suggest that it's waldorf blofeld techno if more than 50% is just percussion =))) the evolver has much more potential but i guess you know already =)

  • nice track..

  • @TheChosenOneOfficial there is a editor that you can download from waldorf website. It allows you to create new sound patches. However, I find process of transmitting the data to the synth very slow and not working too well

  • Nice ending with those reverb snares.. . .

  • @TheChosenOneOfficial

    Yes, many.

  • @owlwink

But nice arpeggiator is included.. i liked Q arpeggiator very much and i guess this have same or better.

  • I like the textures of this synth, in the future I thought of buying a waldorf blofeld or a second hand Yamaha an1x ,which one is better ?

  • Reminds me of Wolfgang Voigt - awesome.
