One of the five unreleased songs of 1977, Brel describes the invasion of Belgium by Germany in May of 1940 when he was eleven years old. Thanks to philipchek of Youtube and Paris for help with this translation.

Any translation is treason, betrayal, compared to the original words of the poet. But with no translations, no Shakespeare, no Steinbeck, no Spinoza, no Don Quixote... no share of all the art which gather humanity. This translation is made with the love of Brel's art, and the highest honnesty as possible to respect his meaning. If you have any proposals to improve this translation, that we know to be unperfect, we'll be pleased to read you.

Ok - any translation is treason. But please give us help, what are the words that you would have used ? Thelma work is only inspired by the love of Brel's art, and no one here pretends to reach the level of the poet. - we just pretend to share passion.

If you love Brel as much as we do, does your "Bleh" helps anything about the share of Brel's art to the english word ? So, if you have any concret words or expression to improve the translation : you're welcomed.
