  • Lol that blind....

  • To all the Pakis: This isn't Urdu, and do you realize how utterly similar these languages are? I would hesitate to even call them different languages; really they're simply dialects. Also, Urdu is largely a mutt language comprised of scraps and bits of Prakrit, Persian, Pashto, Arabic, and other disparate languages. To say that Urdu "is better" than Hindi, is completely subjective. Indeed, I would say Hindi is somewhat "better" because it's more useful as a result of India's burgeoning economy.

  • @firangi - We do use "aap" in the same context also, but perhaps there isn't any sort of attachment to its use in our form of broken toota phoota hindi. For example, if I were to use Tum with an elderly person, then there wouldn't be any stigma attached to that...We're quite lucky in fiji that our forefathers carried on the language, unlike the Indians who have settled in Trinidad, Guyana etc who have lost all touch with the language...

  • @firangi - Fiji Hindi is effectively a mixture of many different regional Hindi languages, the likes of bihari, rajasthani, haryanvi etc etc with a few words used from other non related Hindustani languages but essentially the words used are all effectively common to both standard Hindi and so there would be a somewhat mutual understanding between someon from Fiji and someone from India (we all watch bollywood films and tv serials without the use of subtitles and fully understand).

  • @rodtorre7 c'mon no need to swear that paki
