Every year in Veneta, Ore., just outside of Eugene where I go to school, about 40,000 to 45,000 visitors attend the Country Fair during a three-day bash. The Country Fair, which started as a barter and craft fair in 1969 as a fund raiser for an alternative school, offers an earthy mix of village atmosphere that harkens back to a prehistoric urbanity.

@Whisper0ak Not all of us have left my friend... We're still trying to keep the spirit alive. When people give up on a good idea, that equals tragedy. Yes, things grow, they change, and that is the only constant in the universe. But small bare-footed children still delight in jugglers, stilt-walkers, and puppeteers and they dance with glee, as I did back in the 80's when I was a tot. Those kids will still have the memories of joy and excitement that I still cherish to this day. Peace and Love.

This fair was cool 15+ years ago. Now it's over populated, commercialised, and over policed. All the cool people left years ago!
