  • Yes, the insurance companies will compete to introduce higher priced products into states that now restrict them. They will compete to scare people into buying these higher priced packages with fewer real benefits. Civilized Countries like France have no competition and people pay 1/5th what Americans pay and they cover everybody not only the richest half of their people.

Stop injecting that conservative ideology into your brain from FOX News. It is wasting your brain worse than crack cocaine.

  • I would prefer a tax like the one proposed by Steve Forbes. A flat tax. As clear cut and simple as possible. Are you inferring that you like the current tax code?

  • Do you want a tax code that is to simple and doesn't address all issues, thus leading to a near endless amount of lawsuits, or do you want one that covers every angle and to be as clear as possible? Clear in this case being something that is stated.

  • I went to the GOP website to check their so-called plan, it's all bs, it's got a bunch of "letter to the POTUS" every other 2 pages, no facts, just a list of talking points. They propose helping unemployed people by cutting their unemployment benefit. I tried to browse through the pages and it's all talking points, all bs, and they gave that document to the president with a straight face, probably because they know that their own followers won't even read the 26 page talking points catalog.

  • You can buy car insurance accross state lines, but your premium depends on the state where you live. Car ins is more expensive in NY, CA and NJ than in places like UT, KY, WV, SC. If the GOPers get it their way what's gonna happen is that states with a high risk pool (unhealthy) like KY, WV,SC,AL,MS, all republicans, will have to pay higher premiums than states like OR, WA,MN,ME,MA,VT, where people are healthier. In the exchange everybody is part of the same pool, more bagaining power.

  • Name calling and hypocrisy. Nice.

  • I think the OPEC and the Federal government play a far greater role in the high cost of gasoline. Per gallon, the taxes charged far exceed the profit margin of big oil.

  • Yes it does, depending on that state's tax rate. The biggest problem is the federal taxes.

  • WTF!?! New competition in a free market will lead to higher rates? Son, put down the pipe.

  • In other words, the only reform that the Republicans want is for insurance companies to be able to cross state lines and destroy state laws regulating insurance companies. This is just more of their deregulation program which has driven prices beyond the reach of the average American. This is a slap in the face and a kick in the groin to the people in America who are sick and unable to afford insurance premiums. This man should be impeached immediately. It is sad that anybody could vote for him.
