Excerpts from Sangita Kalanidhi Shri Palghat Raghu's lecture / demonstration on Carnatic music, entitled "The Multifaceted Splendour of Misram", held at the Madras Music Academy in December of 2007. In this segment, Shri Raghu explains how a mridangam solo (thani avarthanam) must flow seamlessly as a part of a composition. The song Enthundi (Durbar, Misra Chapu) is presented in Part 1, along with a full thani avarthanam composed by Shri Raghu in Parts 2 and 3.

Performed by:
Abhishek Raghuram (vocal)
Mysore Srikanth (violin)
Anantha R. Krishnan (mridangam)

  • excellent....

  • i cannot be more grateful to you for posting this. you even included english subtitles. this is really excellent. thank you!

  • Very educational, very helpful. Also very nice performance and kriti.

  • Abishek has shown some of Alattur Bros. excellent laya touches which was the hallmark of Alattur

  • An astonishing, pleasant, bhava-laden singing by Mr. Abhishek Raghuram. I was quite moved by hearing this, a composition of Saint Tyagaraja in the raga Darbar. "Endundi vedalitivo? Evuro ne teliya", a marvelous kriti in Telugu language, is rarely heard these days at concerts. He has sung this at a slow tempo, which is quite appropriate for this song. Thank you very much for posting this video.
