"There's still those words..." This is not about "being racist" but about feeling/being attacked and attacking back. He was in the zone, people. Not thinking. Comedy is all about breaking taboos, and he lost it and went for the biggest taboo that was right in front of him when he felt attacked. He went for the weak spot of the heckler without thinking and hit one of the biggest taboos on the head. He even realized it himself at the end, before he left the stage. "There's still those words..."

People usually say what they really mean under heavy circumstances.Michael Richards said something that most white people feel but are scared to say.Most whites think this way.Plus did the hecklers say anything racist? NO. Eddie Murphy and Richard pryor had the most hecklers - But the difference was that they are real comedians and know the art inside out. MR was trying to pay the bills by doing standup.
