In 1960 while trying to develop an extendable planar structure I discovered a tension and compression form similar to woven fabric. It is composed of struts that follow a zigzag course, the rigid parts held firmly in place by tension wires. This animation shows the transformation of the woven cloth into a steel structure and back again. animation by Ken Snelson and Jon Monaghan music by Ryoji Ikeda

  • Hi,

I am a Architectural student and I am creating a temporary structure, which is a knitted double skin membrane with a tensegrity supporting structure.

I trying to make create a similar animation of my work, but I am not sure how to go about it, would be possible to get a contact from one of you so I could perhaps ask some questions. My email is megan.sadler@my.westminster.ac.uk,

Would be very helpful. Thank you.
