My dad used to fly this *bird* in WWII in the South Pacific. We'd watch his flight take off when he was at Offuit AFB, Omaha, NE. There would be about six or so of them taking off at once. They'd pass right overhead...about 100 ft above us. Awesome!! He would tip his wings as he flew overhead. It sent chills up my spine every time...the rumble of all those planes. They flew so low on bombing runs they put parachutes on the bombs to slow them down, they didn't want to blow the planes behind.
