  • "Now Fatherland, Fatherland, show us the sign

Your children have waited to see

    The morning will come

    When the world is mine

    Tomorrow belongs to me!!"

    Beauty? More like WAR!

  • What an awesome version! Easily the best on youtube!!

    Este chica son increíble!!

  • Hi,

Just read your request for the lyrics, I played Gerr Schultz ib that produccion, so I know I have the script and score here somewhere..

I'll send it to you if you like, the difference in the lyrics from country to country, is that the international sale of produccion rights only entitles you to the original score, each must do it's own translation, which must be approved by the holder of the rights(Kander and Ebb), so, they are the ultimate rulers on whether the translation is faithfull.

  • Can you please post the spanish language version of the lyrics as sung here? Thanks! :)

  • No, actually. This is the reprisal of the song. The first time it's sung in the show is by Nazis.

  • Actually, this isn't the 'Spanish' version. It's the stage version. In the stage version, Fraulein Kost (a prostitute) is trying to persuade Herr Ludwig (a nazi) to stay. It happens to be at Herr Schulz' (a Jew) engagement party. So it doesn't miss the point.

  • Well, I think it is put in the play to show how very, very bad ideas can sound very, very good... It's not suppose to be an angry oom-pa-pa, but a song of hope, beauty and nature... the stag in the forest run free, but gather together to greet the storm, tomorrow belongs to me... it is natural for the deer to gather together as the storm nears

  • So when the Spanish version even changes the lyrics to "Manana sera Mejor" ie, "Tomorrow will be Better", the whole point of the scene is lost.. and it can be argued that the whole story of the play builds up to this point, when all the fun and games found in the "Cabarets" of the Weimar Republic give way to the serious fanaticism of the Nazi Reich that overthrew it..

  • I'm sorry my friend, it is NOT a song of hope!! It is a song of pure evil.. you have to understand the historical and cultural setting of the times it is set in (1930s Germany, just as Hitler and the Nazis were coming to power) to know why it is very sinister and evil..

  • So the purpose of this song is to show how evil (the Nazis) used seemingly sweet and nice people, songs, and ideas, to gain power and implement their genocidal, dominating policies!! So when this Spanish version has a girl (not even in Nazi uniform) sing it, and then the rest of the singers do not even do the Nazi salute, it sorta misses the whole point!!
