Mark Robinson raced to a convincing victory in the Lord Mayor's Cup at Lismore Speedway on Saturday night..
Robinson was always in command after he started at the head of the field and stamped his authority on the race as he led Luke Oldfield and Andrew Pezzutti to the chequered flag.
The 30-lap race ran without major incident as the top three placegetters moved out from the rest of the chasing pack.
The only interruption to the action came when Peter Britten hit the safety fence. Britten, who escaped unhurt from the incident, lost all chance of a major placing and did not figure in the remainder of the race.
Robinson has commenced his season on a high note and showed that he will be once again be the one of the dominant drivers in V8 Dirt Modifieds events at the Lismore circuit this season.
The pomp and ceremony of the Lord Mayor's Cup rated as one of the most prestigious V8 Dirt Modified events on the east coast speedway calendar was highlighted with the presence of Mayor Jenny Dowell.
Meanwhile, in other race action, the Street Stock main event was taken out by Paul Reeves, while other feature race winners were Anthony Chaffey (Dwarf cars), Stuart Hall (AMCA Nationals), Paul Reeves (Street Stocks), Kurt Wilson (Junior Sedans) and Aaron Ackerley (Four-Cylinder Sedans).
