How to Root HTC Desire HD

In today's episode of XDA TV, Sam takes you through the steps required to S-OFF, root, and flash a custom ROM on your Desire HD, as quickly and simply as he possibly can.

Steps for this process:

1. Download the Advanced Ace Hack Kit
2. Extract the files
3. Install Desire HD drivers in /tools/windrivers/
4. Connect the device via USB and turn on USB Debugging in Settings-Applications-Development
5. Run the hack-ace.cmd as Administrator and start the process by typing "1" and "Enter"
6. The process will run and will take about 5-6 minutes to complete
7. Download your ROM of choice, do not extract it, and copy the .zip to the device SD card
8. Rename the file to "update.zip"
9. Power off your device
10. To boot in the bootloader, perform a battery pull, reinstate the battery, and hold the volume down and power buttons
11. Using the volume buttons to navigate, and power button to make selections, boot into Recovery, clear the cache, and select 'install update from sdcard'.
12. When the flashing process has completed, reboot your device and wait about 3-4 minutes for it to boot fully
13. You device is now rooted and has a custom ROM installed

lol, this is a way to make you read the effen manual (which comes with the Hacker Pack). So read it! You find the answer in the manual.

I can't play 9mm game, but I've seen people playing it, and they rooted their phones...

so is it worth rooting my phone just because a game, or I should ask for refund?

When i open the hack-ace.cmd

It says

file "sc" is missing or corrupted

Your PC Windows ENU is damaged and should be repaired.

At least one default system file is missing, corrupt

or the Windows PC env has otherwise comprpmised.

The hack kit quits before damage is done to your phone.

HELP! How to fix??

@6HARIS you don't HAVE to root but if you did you would be able to flash the latest roms to your phone, therefore upgrading your device to the latest Android versions (2.3.5/ 2.3.7 or even 4.0.3 ICS)...visist XDA.com

this is really taking to long to sort out just aint worth the hassle !! (sigh) :'( bin at this for hours!!

problems:

on the link below trying to find the link on the site then weather to trust it or not then once downloaded and saved, openned up the file ok got all the bits, then bloody phone wont connect to my laptop as dont seem to have this driver install thing sooooooooooooo yeah ...... tbh not even worth trying .....
