It only belongs to the people if the people aren't ignorant bigots. Since the individuals who voted yes on prop 8 are all ignorant bigots the answer is no California doesn't belong to you because you're stupid.

"Traditional" marriage is polygamy. Being forced to marry your rapist. Selling your daughter into slavery and arranged marriage. Telling black people they are subhuman and not fit to marry under God, but can jump over the broom.
