The Equipment and Assistive Technology Initiative (EATI) is a government-funded program that allows people with disabilities in British Columbia to gain access to equipment, technology and training support for the purpose of participating in the work force. The program specified $4 million a year for four years. Just seven months into the program, the provincial government cut the funding by $2.5 million or 60%. Help restore assistive technology for people with disabilities. Find out more through http://equalsbc.wordpress.com.

  • I can't believe they're taking it away.. it's always the voiceless communities they take money from! That is, until Angelina came along ( : You should have something about EATI in there, did you, maybe I just didn't see it. Maybe you can hook up with the newspapers, send them this video, maybe SHAW as well, they like little shows like this.

  • @ElisaMeakin Yes, there's a little blurb on EATI in the description under the video. The story was picked up by CTV and Global News last night. The issue was also raised in the Legislature yesterday. It was a big day for people with disabilities! They're fighting back and people are finally paying attention.

  • This is an excellent video, friendly, interesting and helpful, it's a hard subject but was compelled to watch it ( : Angelina, you rock!

Is this fund they're talking about the EATI fund? It sounds like it, I think they started up in October, if you don't know about it contact the Peoples Coalition of People with Disabilities. Luv~e!

  • @ElisaMeakin

Thanks, Elisa. Yes, it is the EATI fund. I'm very familiar with this because I was still working for Paul Gauthier when they got this fund. It just makes me mad that they're taking it away. These people NEED assistive technology to make their lives just a little bit easier.
