KLEENEX waren, neben den englischen Bands SLITS und RAINCOATS, eine der drei ersten Frauenbands der Punk-Aera sowie der erste Swiss-Wave Export-Hit.
Der Song "nice" wurde 1978 auf ihrer ersten EP veröffentlicht und begeisterte mit der originellen Mischung aus Art-School, Glamour und Punk-Noise die Musikkritiker. Die Band erhielt einen Plattenvertrag mit Rough Trade UK und die EP erreichte die UK-Charts!

The song "nice" was published 1978 on their first EP and delighted, with the original mixture from art-school, glamour and Punk-Noise, the music critics. The band got a record contract with Rough Trade UK and the EP reached the UK-Charts!

Kleenex was a girl band from Switzerland - also for me from Austria it was hard to understand their lyrics.....I remember to this band well. This sound was called the German New Wave - between 80-82. Their first name was "Kleenex Active" - I think.

'Kleenex Active' was an Austrian (from Vienna) band, from 1981 to 1986, and there are no connections to Kleenex (later Liliput) from Zurich (Switzerland).

Thanks so much for this. Never seen it at all in about the 30 years its existed. Still have the vinyl EP. I remember when I bought it the centre was missing. A john peel favourite.
