Richard Bacon Attempts Comedy Standup

The self-obsessed BBC presenter (and renowned Palin-hater) is simply dire. On 27 August 2009 Richard Bacon appeared at the Udderbelly during the Edinburgh Festival to try his hand at comedy standup. He broadcast and took calls as part of his phone-in (including a call from his mother) from the wings, immediately before walking on stage, at the end of Reginald D Hunter's show. The event was broadcast live on Radio Five Live and Richard continued his radio show immediately afterwards. This is a slightly edited version to fit into YouTube's 10-minute limit.

He genuinely spent 10 minutes talking about himself. It was 10 minutes monologue with no resolve, no punchline. Just arrogance. He's complaining about only being 3rd famous and having to pay for things, yeah, that's really gonna get an audience on your side.

I think Richard bacon is an outstanding broadcaster, not sure why people hate him so much, his interviews are by far the most interesting and informative on the radio, he was obviously not gonna be brilliant at this but then some pros are crap too... Russell Howard for one!!!

I 'm not exactly sure why this RB irritates me so much but when he comes on the radio, I have to switch it off. I don't feel that way about any other presenter. However having seen this I think he is just a complete nob.

I met him once when he was on The Big Breakfast, total arrogant nob. He destroyed that show. Was such a shame to see a wonderfully inventive and unique brand name left in the hands of this talentless twat. This proves the point further.
