@Johnlindsey289 TV Tropes said the same thing
-
Dude looks like a cross between John Travolta(1970s) and Frank Sinatra. Creepy.
-
@TheNatkidd agreed.
-
@Visser0x I don't know. Heck, that's what i want to know. Maybe, because. Ralph, doesn't care, how the 50's, really were, and just put too much 80's style, in a film, that take's place, in the 1950's. Maybe that's why. Now i don't hate him, or this film. But maybe that's the real reason. Heck, even Vinny's girlfriend, doesn't look like she's from the 50's, with that long hair, and dresses. And that's nothing 50's style.
-
@TheNatkidd I know that now, but I'm still confused on why they're dress in late 50s attire.
-
@Visser0x If you see the begining, of this film. It will say Brooklyn, 1953. When Vinny talk's about the 50's, to the woman.
-
@Visser0x If you see in the begging, of this film. It will say 1953, when Vinny talk's about the 50's/
-
@TheNatkidd no, I thought the movie was based in the late 50s due to the style of clothing, and was generally surprised by the fact its set in the early 50s
-
@Visser0x ..... Okay..... So what. I made you mad, or something.
-
@TheNatkidd They look like greasers from the late 50s - mid 60s(?) from the way they dress that is = clothing wise
Does anyone think Vinnie looks alike like the anime character Lupin The Third? same suit, sideburns and look. I bet Bakshi went to Japan in 1980 as he saw Castle of Cogliostro and got the inspiration for the character.

@Johnlindsey289 Not sure. Bakshi completed a version of this film that had live action backgrounds 1975 but it had to be remade. Vinnie's design might be the same in that version which would pre-date the Lupin films but not the manga. I think it's more likely he's based on typical teddy boy fashions from the 50s.
