Scenes of a couple stops along the Foumban Jakiri Road (Cameroon), October 1 1985.
The women running away at the end apparently do not want to be filmed because among some in Cameroon there was (perhaps still is?) a belief that taking one's picture could take their "spirit" away--that somehow the photo "captures" them. I think one woman shouts "we day now!" in Pidgin meaning, "we are there now" (in the camera). If I had anticipated their reaction, I would have told my father to stop filming. However, I am guessing they now would be glad to be "snapped" and perhaps they or their children will see this video and be thankful it exists!
