But a monorail uses only one rail with a self powered train.
The cable car is cable driven like a chair lift and it sits on two rail.
The use of tram is more appopriate.

Yes, but "Cable Car" is so. . . so. . . . "Rice-A-Roni". If you ask anyone who rides on it, it's a "Monorail" and anyone who works on it, it's a "Tram".
