  • @foolsgoldtwenty his head stock isn't bound, the back of the head stock along with sides are painted the colour of the guitar, in this case white, all you're seeing is the paint. its obvious what i mean if you look at the white neck picture - gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/SG/Epiphone/Ltd-Ed-50th-Anniversary-1961-SG-Special/Specs.aspx

  • bluegrasss junk? Thats funny i just read not to long ago that vintage guitar collectors prefer the Epiphone 1961 reissue over the Gibson reissues so i suggest next time you do alot of internet research befor you call any Epiphone junk.

  • I notice that there's no Tune-o-matic on this,Id imagine you'd need the perfect set-up on it.

It also looks like it's a slightly smaller scale, though mibi its just the camera angle...nice though, looks fun.

  • junk

  • Norahjasper there's many professional guitarist that claim the 2010 model Epiphone G400. Standard 62 Sg is the best standard Sg out there today. Me personally I tried the 2010 Epiphone model in 2010 when I was in the market on buying a Sg. It was between the Epiphone and Gibson. I played both for 30 minutes and at the end the choice was very clear to me Epiphone with out any doubt. The same with the Epiphone 1961 reissue.

  • Is it me, or do the pickups seem pretty close together?

  • Why would you even think of replaci.ng the P-90's replacing the P-90's would not be a upgrade of any kind you will destroy any future value of the guitar. And mark my words this guitar will go up in price as it gets older. Its already at least $450 underpriced thats not even agruble.

  • The other day I compared this to the other Epiphone SG's and ended up buying this. Its a really nice guitar, blows away every other Epi other than Elite/Elitist Epi's I've ever tried. Nice guitar, looks like Sapele not Mahogany but its got a nice acoustic tone regardless. I will probably upgrade the pickups and caps, but the tuners, bridge, nut and pots are all good enough to leave on. The 61 Epi LE is a real nice SG for under $400 and a good sign of what Epiphone is becoming capable of. Kudos

  • Hmm what's going on here?.. why does your Epi '61 have an edgebound headstock yet the 3 I just received don't..Are you demoing a custom shop/hybrid or pre-production model? That's not very fair to the paying customer!!. I bought one as I saw your video and thought the headstock looked great but the production models I have (from a genuine Epi retailer) DONT- appreciate your reply....

  • When top luthier Michael Voltzs left Gibson and joined Epiphone in 2001 his only goal was to make Epiphone once again a great guitar company. And today he has most certainly done that and more. It's also because of Michael Voltzs that the G-400 standard 62 Sg and now the limited edition 50th Anniversary 1961 Sg Reissue and many more great Epiphone guitars are The very best in top Professional quality and every bit Gibsons equal And better. So again thank you Mike Voltzs for making Epiphone great
