Good job not reading other posts, moron. The scope is gone already.

The scope in the video mounted on a weaver rail that fits into the rear sight base. No drilling and tapping was done to the firearm. I would definitely disagree it ruins the rifle - it improves its usefulness a lot, in my opinion. As much as I love the Mauser, I can't help but not like the iron sights. They're very small and hard to use, especially if your eyesight isn't pitch perfect.

  • take this fucking scope off

    you ruine the rifle !!

I got my K98 for $250, and last I checked 8mm Mauser goes for about $0.24 a round online. Which is really cheap compared to most .30-06 you'll find.

If your K98 is off, you might want to try and adjust the front sight. I need to do it for my K98, it shoots 6 inches to the left consistently since I reinstalled the rear sight. There are a few tutorials on youtube on adjusting this front sight, you'd either use a tool designed for it or a slightly modified c-clamp.

  • oh well shit if you want to use a large cal to hunt with you could geta 30-06 for pretty much the same price as that, and itll prolly be more realiable and accurate. i just took my 1917 kar98az to the range for the first time and that thing cant shoot straight for shit, kinda sad lol

Makes a really nice brush gun/hunting rifle that way. I'm all for not bubba-izing a rifle, but the K98's open iron sights are really not very nice. SMLE, Garand, even the Mosin-Nagant's sights are a lot nicer than the K98's. The rifle currently doesn't have the scope attached now, but I'm considering getting a peep rear sight or a scope since the v-notch sights are such a pain to use.

  • why would you put a modern scope on that
