I am trying to setup an HTPC system. What kind video card do I need? Do I have to have a capture HD card or does MMC do that for you. I have a MYHD capture video card in another computer that has it's own recording software but was wondering if I just needed a nice video card that can display HD video. A little confused, thanks for any help.

I'm thinking of dropping cable and living with OTA channels + netflix and whatever I can get online. My one question - where does the REMOTE come from to run media center? How does that work? Thanks!

Hey @quadruplelatte! You can check a vendor like Hauppauge, they have products to capture live TV as well as remotes check hauppauge's website (Can't place the URL here...)

i know how you can avoid all of your troubles and its called a CONDOM not microsoft media centre,
if you do need to use a media centre go for linux, free and has far more options.

Well thanks but i'd rather go for something I can actually install and configure. linux sucks and all lusers should not comment on my video if all they want to do is bash Microsoft products.
