I'm super tired lol. So today, just a vlog. You know what's scary? CarylCakes vlog is way more pimpin than mine and she's sick. Oh well, I'll make up for a lack of awesome in tomorrow's video haha.

Today's random information:

When I decided to focus on making my dream of being a musician a reality, I started to make my paying jobs relevant to my goals.

First up? I took a job as a waitress. I needed a whole slew of skills that waitressing can teach. I wanted to improve my ability to work under pressure, walk up and talk to random people. I needed to learn to get better at handling criticism and memorizing stuff.

By the time the diner shut down, I had grown in leaps and bounds and my confidence was getting much better.

I took a job as an assistant manager at a fast food restaurant. I wanted to develop my business skills and become more assertive. I needed to learn how to be a leader and inspire change. I wanted to further develop my abilities to work under pressure and take criticism.

Developing these skills helps me to continue pursuing music, even if at first glance it doesn't seem like it.

My official website is new, improved, and looking sweet!

  • @CarylCake So true, CarlyCake. And, incomplete equipment does force you to be creative and sometimes being creative, makes for a better video.

If someone wants to see, professionally made movies they'll watch dvd's or go the movie theaters. LOL. Besides, I like the indie look, myself.

  • @sarahlacroixmusic Same here. work, work and then sleep, wake up and repeat the process. Five or six days a week.

Sounds like some flirting went on, if you know he works 9-5 monday thur friday.

  • @wolfbracker Oh, I hear you there! Last night, I had some down time, and I decided to learn how fire breathing is done. I don't know if I'll ever try it, but it was something I was curious about. Take me to a book store and you'll find me in the non fiction section. My favorite magazines are Psychology Today and Scientific American Mind... yeah, I'm a total nerd, but I love it!

  • @CarylCake Excuses, excuses! My first video was done with a built in laptop microphone and a webcam. The audio and video didn't even sync up! But my first videos allowed me to establish myself, and get more comfortable. It allowed me to make more mistakes.

More importantly, we are artists, and the true artists know that art happens whether you use your bare hands or a $40 paintbrush to paint with.

  • @wolfbracker " If someone waits for better equipment, nothing would ever get done."

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that thinks that! I've met some people that tell me to have certain pieces of equipment right down to the model number. We are YouTubers! We make amazing things with incomplete equipment!

  • @sarahlacroixmusic I totally agree, put to good use what equipment you do have. If someone waits for better equipment, nothing would ever get done. And, if people are interested in your videos and music, they will totally forgive not having top notch equipment. Every day is a learning experience for me. But, I love knowledge, just for the sake of it.

  • @sarahlacroixmusic I'm sort of the same. I daydream a lot at work. I have a no brainer job. Then, when I get home. I totally pumped to write my next project for my videos. I actually find that it helps me to be a lot more creative having a no brainer job. My head is still spinning after reading all the stuff you are invovled with. LOL. But, I'm sure you do enjoy it. And, I see you put annotions in your video, that's awesome! Every little bit helps, with getting more views.

  • @wolfbracker I struggled a lot with the whole lack of equipment problem for a long time, and eventually came to the conclusion that something is better than nothing. I have been very fortunate to be able to upgrade my equipment dramatically over the years, but it is nowhere near professional quality. However, we all have to start somewhere, and it's all a learning experience.
