On September 11th, 2002, Clifton Draper, a self-taught musician in Oakland, CA, composed and performed his Requiem. In the back room of a piano store, with a portrait of his favorite senator, Diane Feinstein nearby, Clifton improvised a heartfelt performance in honor of those who had lost their lives in the terror attacks a year earlier, even as the store's manager attempted to close up for the night.

  • Interesting, I met this guy at like 2 or 3 AM in the Colonial Donut shop in Oakland in early 2007. He was like 87 and had a lot of energy and just wanted to talk and share. He's still driving at 87, I see him driving around different parts of Oakland from time to time....dayam! He's inspirational to be active at his age. Keep it movin Clifton!!
