This is just something a little different from what I normaly upload.

Anyways, back in the Summer of 2007, I made this "emulation" of what the TV Guide Network used to look like back durring the old Prevue Guide days. Here, the listings were from the Summer of 2007.

The first emulator video shows the earliest (known) version of Prevue Guide that was used from 1988-April 1993. The second one shows the first version of the blue grid that was used from April 1993-fall 1993 (I think). Of course, in the fall of 1993, Prevue Guide latter became known as the Prevue Channel. TV Guide latter took over in 1999 and became known as the TV Guide Channel. It is now called the TV Guide Network and alot has changed since the Prevue days.

  • Where can you get this emulator?

  • @winerrs You can't. Its not available anywhere on the internet. I made it myself in Microsoft Office Powerpoint 2003.

  • The "little blinking cursor" you refer to which appeared next to the current time indicated satellite data download status. If you look closely through old footage of Prevue Guide, there were actually two blinking dots. The right one was a visual indicator that the system was receiving a valid data-stream from PG headquaters via satellite. The left one indicated that the local PG machine still had current data.

  • Good job.....*applause*

thank you so much for this info. I've seen lots of prevue videos on youtube and I did own primestar which had the prevue channel and I have always wondered about those flashing lights.

  • @WeatherSTARIII Maybe you want to let him buy it from you :)

  • Media General Cable in Fairfax Country Virginia never did have a Prevue Guide but we did have a Prevue Channel

  • It looks like it's in HD.

  • No, I just worked in a CATV headend where we had a PG installation running. No longer work in the cable industry though.

  • did you used to work for Prevue channel? I never would have known that. (and no, not being funny..I'm actually serious cause I also notice those blinking dots and also never knew what it meant)

  • Dude do you have a program version of this that i can download? Great job with the Emulation.
